Representing Southwest Indiana at the Statehouse

Tim O’Brien is a lifelong Hoosier. Tim moved to Southwest Indiana for college, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the University of Southern Indiana. He chose to make Southwest Indiana home and established himself as a real estate broker. He remains active in community leadership, serving on the Board of Directors for Heritage Federal Credit Union and previously on the Evansville Land Bank Corporation Board. In 2025, Tim was named Easterseal’s Evansville Legislator of the Year and Boys & Girls Club of Indiana Legislative Champion.

Prioritizing K–12 education funding

As a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and Chair of the K–12 Subcommittee, Tim played a key role in crafting Indiana’s most recent biennial budget, which delivered the largest investment in K–12 students in state history and expanded school choice options for families.

Ensuring parents’ voices are heard

Tim authored a bipartisan law requiring school boards to allow public comment at meetings, guaranteeing that Hoosier parents have a meaningful voice in local education decisions.

Supporting critical medical research

Tim authored a 2025 law establishing new grant programs for pediatric and breast cancer research, helping accelerate innovative treatments and improve outcomes for Hoosier families.
